A Tradify alternative that works offline and does F-Gas
Tradify and Maintivo cost about the same for one person, so this is not a price argument. It is about the two things a gas or HVAC engineer hits every week: no signal in the plant room, and the F-Gas sum. Tradify's help centre says the app does not work offline. Maintivo does.
What is Tradify, and who is it for?
Tradify is job management software for small trade businesses of any trade. According to their website it covers quoting, scheduling, job management and invoicing, priced per user at £34, £37 or £44 a month in the UK at the time of writing. A gas safety record is on a higher tier. Their help centre says the app does not work offline and the F-Gas logbook is not quite ready.
Maintivo is an iPhone and iPad app for UK gas, heating, HVAC, refrigeration and M&E teams of one to ten. It captures the inspection on site with no signal, produces the record and emails the branded PDF on save. No diary, no quoting, and priced per business rather than per user.

When Tradify is the right choice
- You quote most jobs and want the quote, the job and the invoice in one place.
- You need a shared diary with jobs assigned and moved around.
- You are a general builder, plumber or electrician, and compliance records are a small part of the week.
- You have engineers on Android. Maintivo is iPhone and iPad only.
- Your work is mostly domestic with a signal at the boiler.
When Maintivo is the right choice
- You service plant rooms, basements or roof-top units where the phone has no signal.
- You do air conditioning or refrigeration and need the F-Gas record done properly, now.
- You are a team, and per-user pricing adds up.
- You want engineers to see jobs and forms, and nothing about money.
- You want an asset register that says when the next check is due.
Same money for one person. What do you get for it?
For a sole trader, Tradify at £34 a month and Maintivo Pro at £34.99 are within a pound. Tradify gives you quoting, a diary and invoicing. Maintivo gives you offline capture, ready-made compliance forms, the F-Gas maths and an asset register with reminders. Pick the one that fixes the part of your week that hurts.
For a team the maths changes. An admin plus three engineers on Tradify is £136 a month at the entry tier, or £176 at the top tier. The same four people on Maintivo is Pro at £34.99 plus a 3-seat pack at £24.99, so £59.98 a month. With the invoicing add-on it is £69.97. Why does offline matter so much for gas and HVAC?
Because the job is in the worst place for signal. A boiler in a basement cupboard. A chiller on a roof behind a steel door. An AHU three floors down. Tradify's help centre says the app does not work offline, so the form waits for the van and the readings live on a scrap of paper until then. Maintivo stores the whole job on the phone: checklist, readings, photos and signature. It uploads when you are back in range.
What about F-Gas?
Tradify says its F-Gas logbook is not quite ready at the time of writing. Maintivo's Split AC/VRF leak check and Chiller service forms are ready now. You choose the refrigerant and enter the charge in kilograms. Supported gases are R32, R410A, R134a, R407C, R404A, R1234ze, R1234yf, R290 and R744. The app converts the charge to tonnes CO₂e, sets the leak-check band and writes the next check due against the unit. It records leak details, gas added or recovered, and both F-Gas certificate numbers. Reminders fire at 90 days, 30 days and overdue.
What does Maintivo not do?
No quoting, no diary, no scheduling or dispatch, no stock, no CRM and no accounting. Invoicing is an optional add-on. No electrical forms, so no EICR and no Electrical Installation Certificate. No Android. Maintivo produces, sends and stores the record. The engineer signs it and remains the competent person. Maintivo never certifies anything.

Not for the whole of it. Tradify does quoting, scheduling, job management and invoicing. Maintivo does the inspection, the compliance record and the branded report, with an optional invoicing add-on. If you live in the Tradify diary, keep it. If the record is what matters and it must work with no signal, Maintivo is built for that.
According to Tradify's own help centre, at the time of writing the app does not work offline. Maintivo captures the whole job on the device, including photos and the customer signature, and uploads when the phone is back in range. Check their current help centre, as this may change.

There is no integration between them, but nothing stops you. Keep Tradify for the diary, quotes and invoices, and use Maintivo on site for the CP12, the F-Gas record and the customer's PDF. The engineer seat in Maintivo shows no prices, so the money stays in Tradify.
